Beat seasonal allergies with these easy remedies

Beat seasonal allergies with these easy remedies:

We have to admit, the impending season change has us feeling conflicted. We are thrilled to finally enjoy warmer weather and summery clothes, but we are also dreading those springtime seasonal allergies that cause our noses, throats, and eyes to go haywire.

Thankfully, we have a few quick fixes up our sleeves to help keep those pesky allergies under control, so you can enjoy spring to the fullest.

Immune boosters for the win

When it comes to combating allergies, the most logical way forward is to ensure that you are healthy, and your immune system is strong enough to power through. The last thing you want is your allergies to flare up so badly that you develop a sinus infection.

Following a healthy, balanced diet, exercising regularly, and taking a vitamin C supplement all work together to keep those allergies in check and your body functioning optimally.

When in doubt, steam it out

Steaming is a versatile cleaning method that can kill germs, remove odour, and get rid of allergens in the home. Steaming your furniture is a great way to reduce any lingering allergens and germs that are triggering allergic reactions.

Our clothes are also unexpected carriers of these nasties. Washing clothing and bedding at a higher temperature can kill germs, but this means potentially destroying delicate fabrics. The LG Vivace AI DD washing machine features LG Steam technology, which eliminates up to 99.9% of allergens, including the dust mites that can cause allergies or respiratory issues. And the best part? It’s gentle on your clothes too, with 18% more fabric protection than an ordinary washing machine.

Another way to use steam for allergies is to open up your airways. Humidifiers can help relieve the discomfort and symptoms of allergies by releasing steam or water vapour into the air to increase the humidity. However, they need to be maintained and cleaned regularly to benefit your health. Not cleaning your humidifier can add to your allergy symptoms, so be sure to choose one that you can easily clean.

Natural treatments for a better spring

Allergies affect everyone differently, although it all boils down to the body’s reaction to triggering stimuli, such as pollen or dust. Some people have found relief through acupuncture, while others have found that natural herbs and plant products help reduce their allergy symptoms. These natural remedies include butterbur – a herb that acts as an antihistamine – and foods rich in quercetin, such as black tea, apples, and onions. Apple cider vinegar has also been found to boost the immune system and break down mucus.

When it comes to fighting seasonal allergies, there are many ways to beat the sniffles. Give some of these remedies a go to enjoy a beautiful spring full of opportunities with no allergies in sight.
