Southern New Hampshire Ukulele Group presents Battle of the Ukulele Bands
Can you play the ukulele? Are you in a band, or can you get one together? Would you like to play The Music Hall?!?
If so—hold on to your hats. On April 20, 2019, New Hampshire will host the first-ever Battle of the Ukulele Bands. That’s right! A straight-up competition of 4-stringed fun! With cool prizes! And bragging rights!
And what better venue to host such a prestigious event than Portsmouth’s historic Music Hall?
It’s an afternoon of fun for ukulele enthusiasts and musicians of all stripes. AND it’s for a good cause— all funds raised will go to benefit the Ukulele Kids Club (theUKC.org). The UKC is a non-profit that provides ukuleles and music therapy to kids in hospitals nationwide. It’s a hugely beneficial thing.
Here’s how it will work:
- 14 bands will each get a 10-minute slot to perform.
- A panel of celebrity judges will score you on musicality, polish, audience response, etc.
- Anyone interested in competing can register online here.
- The first layer of competition will be to win one of the 14 performance slots. You win a slot by being one of the top 14 online fundraisers. Pledging is easy!
- The top 14 fundraisers will be announced February 15.
All registrants will be invited on stage with our celebrity judges to play a final song and help raise the roof commemorating this first-ever SNHUG BUB world event.
