Ballets Jazz de Montral – a Music interest event taking place on 2018-02-15 19:30:00 in United States
Canadas greatest contemporary touring company, Ballets Jazz de Montral (BJM) returns to Philadelphia with three premieres. BJM under the artistic direction of Louis Robitaille, is known worldwide for its virtuoso dancers, world-class repertoire and commissions.
The program features two works by Israeli choreographer Itzik Galili. After a trip to Cuba and inspired by the timeless music of Perez Prado, Galili created O Balcao de Amor, an ode to Havana, filled with comedic sparks and the joyfulness of youth. Galilis Casualties of Memories is a vibrant 30-minute work to music by Les Freres Grand. Het Parool (Amsterdam) called it a unique tour de force. Dance Me (excerpt) is BJMs newest commission celebrating its 45 Anniversary. Dance Me is a homage to Canadas treasured singer-songwriter-poet Leonard Cohen featuring choreography by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Andonis Foniadakis and Ihsan Rustem.
