audiograft festival – Wednesday 07 March – a Music interest event taking place on 2018-03-07 19:30:00 in United Kingdom
Icebreaker: System Restart Icebreaker builds on its reputation for championing new music by young musicians with the chops and attitude that redefine contemporary Western music practice. Six composers from this new generation populate the System Restart programme, and they are taking high profile prizes and establishing increasingly international profiles. As it turns out, they are all women; Kerry Andrew (UK), Linda Buckley (IRL), Elizabeth Kelly (US/UK), Anna Meredith (UK), Kate Moore (AU/NL), and Jobina Tinnemans (NL/UK). Known for laser focus, precision and intensity, Icebreaker performs music appealing to contemporary classical, rock and alternative music audiences alike. Appearing at most major contemporary music festivals around the world, the eleven-piece ensemble present the works some of the best known and most influential composers in contemporary music, such as Michael Nyman, David Lang, Michael Gordon, Gavin Bryars, Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Terry Riley, Barry Adamson and Donnacha Dennehy. Recent performances of Icebreaker arrangements of Brian Eno's album Apollo, the early works of Kraftwerk (Kraftwerk Uncovered), and Scott Walker's Epizootics! have garnered critical praise and celebration. Expect a raucous and enlightening night of new music. audiograft is a PWYD (Pay What You Decide) festival. PWYD works by enabling audiences to attend shows without paying for a ticket beforehand, but tickets can be reserved prior to a performance. Then on exiting the show, you have the opportunity to pay what you decide you want to, or can afford to, based on your overall enjoyment of the performance. Please ensure you have arrived and collected your tickets 15 minutes before the show starts in order to secure your seats. At the end of the show, you can decide what to pay, by cash on the door. audiograft is curated by the Sonic Art Research Unit (SARU) at Oxford Brookes University and co-promoted by OCM
