As with any first-generation device of novel design, the main appeal for early adopters will be to experience the bleeding edge of Apple’s first-party spatial computing applications while the broader software ecosystem develops and matures over the headset’s first few years of life.

Apple VIsion Pro is not primarily a camera of course, but it is in part a device for capturing photos and videos. The Vision Pro will be able to capture spatial photos and video, using a button along the top edge of the goggle part of the device. The Vision Pro will then use its infrared, depth-sensing TrueDepth camera as well as its onboard LiDAR scanner to capture depth information along with photo and video. You don’t need a Vision Pro to do this though; the iPhone 15 Pro is also capable of spatial photography and video as well. You will, however, need an Apple Vision Pro to revisit them in 3D.

We haven’t gotten our hands on an Apple Vision Pro just yet, but are in talks with Apple about an opportunity to put one through its paces. If you are planning on preordering an Apple Vision Pro, please let us know in the comments or drop us a line through our tips form if you’d be interested in participating in potential future coverage!
The Nikon Zf is a 24MP full-frame mirrorless camera with classic looks that adds the latest Expeed 7 processor and features such as 3D Tracking AF to the $2000 price bracket. We’re not sure the experience lives up to the looks.
The Sony a9 III is the world’s first full-frame mirrorless camera to feature a global electronic shutter with simultaneous readout. We’ve been using a full production version of this 120 fps sports camera, to see what you gain (and, perhaps, lose).
The Aura Carver 10.1″ HD Digital Frame is a great way to put your portfolio on display and a great way to surface forgotten memories. The colors are vibrant, and the build quality is solid, but the Carver isn’t without a few quirks.
With a bigger battery and better video capabilities, the Fujifilm X-S20 could be the vlogging machine content creators have been waiting for.

Our DPREVIEW Tribute:
After nearly 25 years of operation, DPReview closed on 10 April 2023. This difficult decision was part of the annual operating plan review that parent company, Amazon, shared earlier this year.
Over the course of 25 years, DP Review built up a reputation as being one of the most informative places to go for information about that new camera or lens you’re after. DP Review began as an independent reviews site based in the UK in 1998, the brainchild of Philip and Joanna Askey, but it was eventually purchased by Amazon in 2007 and relocated over to Seattle in the USA in 2010.
Cheers DPReview – thanks for the great work and content that guided photographers, videographers and techno junkies the world over!
