After less than two years in operation, ALSA (Affordable Living Solutions Africa) is proud to announce its membership with FASA, marking a significant milestone as the first property development franchise in South Africa. The journey has not been without challenges, particularly in conveying the franchise business model to aspiring entrepreneurs. Property development is a lucrative yet complex field, often presenting high risk factors for medium to small businesses.
ALSA is committed to addressing South Africa’s gap market housing crisis through a collective approach. All franchisees utilize the same blueprint, processes, and back-office technology to develop a standardized product in selected urban nodes across the country. Our model consistently features three-story walk-ups equipped with solar panels, heat pumps, and batteries.
Our specialists provide comprehensive support, guiding franchisees through all phases of development with close mentorship, weekly one-on-one sessions, and training conferences. This robust support system empowers entrepreneurs—such as contractors, real estate agents, and anybody with a passion for property—to become significant players in high-density and renewable energy development. Currently, ALSA has 12 franchisees across South Africa, with plans to expand to a minimum of 50. We also offer a master franchise license opportunity for neighboring and other SADC countries. Founder Hans van Breugel, a Dutch engineer with 20 years of investment in South Africa, is dedicated to creating dignified living for the country’s middle-income citizens. Each franchisee is expected to roll out a minimum of 200 apartments per year, making the ALSA initiative a promising solution for first-time homeowners and aspiring property entrepreneurs.
