Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K Recommends City Transport for a Smooth Race Day Experience

The 2024 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series will reach an exciting conclusion on National Heritage Day (Tuesday 24 September 2024) as 11 500 runners take to the streets of Johannesburg for the iconic Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K. To ensure a seamless race day experience, event organisers are urging participants to make use of either the convenient Park and Ride service from the Johannesburg Athletic Stadium in the Ellis Park Precinct or the slick Gautrain and Gautrain Bus service.

“We’re thrilled to welcome such an impressive number of runners to the 2024 Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Series Founder. “With the large influx of runners heading to Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, it’s crucial to avoid traffic congestion and parking challenges. That’s why we’ve implemented a Park and Ride service from the Johannesburg Athletic Stadium in the Ellis Park Precinct, offering safe parking with buses shuttling runners to the start from as early as 5:15 am. Alternatively, participants can opt for the Gautrain and Gautrain Bus service, which also provides a hassle-free commute. It’s important to note that only runners wearing their race numbers on the front of their t-shirts will receive free access to the Gautrain and Gautrain Buses. Both services (Park and Ride and the Gautrain and Gautrain Bus service) are complimentary for all entrants of the 2024 Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K.”

Meyer concludes, “We strongly encourage all participants to make use of the Park and Ride service or the Gautrain and Gautrain Bus service. With safe parking and stress-free transportation, runners can relax and enjoy the journey to the start line. This is just one more way we’re ensuring a smooth and enjoyable race day experience for everyone.”
