A cool Kings Beach image:
360° Pinhole Panorama Brighton Seafront

A 360° Panoramic view of Brighton Seafront, taken soon before sunset in wintertime.
Over 100 photographs were manually stitched together to produce this complete "wrap around" view of the horizon. Each individual photograph is a pinhole photograph; each image is in effect the "shadow of a pinhole" – no glass optics were involved at all, other than the glass protection over the surface of the CCD camera sensor.
To make the pinhole, the lens on a Canon DSLR was replaced with a plastic body cap with a hole drilled out of it. Mounted in the hole (using double sided tape) was a small sheet of aluminium cut out from a drink can. A pinhole had previously been punched (using a sewing needle) through the aluminium.
Both surfaces of the aluminium sheet hole – approximately 0.3 – 0.4 mm in diameter – had been sanded smooth using very fine "wet and dry" sandpaper. Many of the photographs have been been badly affected by coloured glare from the sun. This may be caused by diffraction / reflection effects from the ragged edges of the hole.
The composition has been presented in this photostream in three versions; with a white, black and a more neutral "two tone" background
