2016 Around the World Embassy Tour (Free)

2016 Around the World Embassy Tour (Free) – a South Africa interest event taking place on 2016-05-07 09:15:00 in United States

Meet People ~ See Places ~ Learn Things ~ Have Fun!  with the Washington, DC History & Culture Meetup Group. We bring people together to experience the history and culture of Washington, DC. Each May many of the Washington, DC embassies open their doors to the public.  On Saturday, May 7 the non-European embassies welcome guests (the European embassy event on May 14 is listed separately).  Visit several of these embassies with the Washington, DC History & Culture Meetup Group.  Last year this was one of our most popular and favorite events so of course we’ll do it again this year. We'll have some great free food and drink, and even met a few ambassadors.  Exact details will be finalized when we get closer to the event date – including the specific embassies we'll visit. Pictures from last year’s embassy tour: http://www.meetup.com/DCHistoryAndCulture/photos/26099695/#437122138 Participants travel the world as they experience the food, art, dance, fashion, music, innovations, and manufactured goods from different countries. More than 50 embassies opened their doors to visitors in 2015, allowing guests to pet alpacas, play with robots, learn indigenous dances, and more! Come see the world through the embassies of missions of our global neighbors. Embassies participating previously include the African Union Mission, Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Fiji, Ghana, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Korea, League of Arab States, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Mozambique, Nepal, Peru, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Zambia. http://www.culturaltourismdc.org/portal/passport-dc1 Thanks!
