Hot on the heels of the succesful launch of www.zuurberg-inn.co.za comes www.MyAddo.co.za.

This is taking a real leap of faith and hoping that concentration on a really small niche market will reap dividends in the long run.

My Addo is a combination Community / Business / Travel concept. Hopefully there is a bit of built in redundancy to allow for growth to a forum and other Community type products.

Time Will Tell.

A function of our sedentary lifestyle and older age is that snoring becomes a factor. In our younger days our partners seem to find the fact that we snore, cute. Come to think of it, almost everything that one does during the first flush of love is considered cute, I have even heard some people reffering to their partners nose picking antics as CUTE.

Well with growing age and a return of brain cells to where they belong (above and not BELOW the neck) comes the growing realisation that your partner does NOT sound cute anymore, when the lawnmower starts snoring next to you .....

Violence and breaking chairs, along with quiet contemplation of murder are by now the order of the day.

So now this is why the Stop Snoring web site caught my eye. Take your little Piggy Snoring self off and go and get it fixed boyo - before your spouse cuts off all access to a little bit of slap and tickle.

The Zuurberg Inn web site has now released a comprehensive set of directions from Port Elizabeth Airport to Addo Elephant Park. The directions to the Addo Elephant Park and Zuurberg incorporate a detailed set of written directions, photographs of each intersection and landmark PLUS Global Positioning Satellite Waypoints for you to enter into your GPS.

And, if you still get lost, then there is absolutely no hope for you at all.

How? Just follow these rules to see how I did it:

1. I registered the domain www.zuurberg-inn.co.za on the 4th September 2006. (Who Is Details).
2. I built and FTP'ed the site within 24 hours.
3. As soon as the local Domain Name Servers Resolved I set up a Google Adwords Account and linked to www.zuurberg-inn.co.za from here on the Free Mail Blog, the Free Mail Directory and www.abyc.org.za - high Google Page Rank and very dynamic.
4. Received a message from Google Adwords on 6th September saying that they could not approve my Google Adwords ad for Zuurberg Inn as the site was NOT FOUND.
5. Checked the Google Listing for www.zuurberg-inn.co.za now and see the following message: This is G o o g l e's cache of http://www.zuurberg-inn.co.za/ as retrieved on 7 Sep 2006 05:56:03 GMT.

Less than 12 hours to be included in the index - stunning.

Lessons:

1. Make sure that ALL aspects of your site are up and running.
2. Link to your new site from reputable sites and directories.
3. Google Adwords.
4. Unique Content.

Looking for some news - no, not recent news, but OLD news for your community site?

Give the Google Archives a whirl - the results are presented in the same fashion as normal Google results, but with a twist - you can search by date and also see which content is paid for or free.

Looking for photographs and images for your site.

Have a look through the images available on SXC - some really stunning examples.

A search on the site using the keywords 'south africa' brought up this example of an Aloe with water drops on it's spines. There were also numerous other examples featuring animals, scenic views and people.
A search on the site using the keyword 'design' brought up this example of a Shell with water running over it.

An example of a niche affiliate site - taking good advantage of keywords in the domain name, title and page selling accommodation.

The actual Hotel site does not even feature in the first five pages of search engine results when using the search term 'zuurberg inn'.

When I found the actual site it was patently obvious why - two sets of frames, no meta tags, no keywords, old and in need of a revamp.

I would like to see how this site fares in the Search Engine Rankings.
